Parks Bond Proposition: Election Day November 7, 2017
On August 10, 2017, the City of Fredericksburg City Council approved submitting a bond proposition to the voters of the city. If approved by the voters, this proposition would provide bond funding for the creation of a new community sports park. In addition to baseball, softball and soccer fields, this park would include playgrounds, pavilions and other park amenities. The proposition would also fund the renovation of Oak Crest Park. The following is intended to inform voters of the project parameters so that they can make an informed decision on this important election issue.
Estimated Tax Impacts: (*Current Estimates) No impact to senior citizens age 65 & older Debt Service: 3 to 3 ½ ₵ per $100 property value Tax Impact to $300,000 home: $90 to $105 per yr* Initial Tax Impacts to begin Fiscal Year 2019 Additional usage charges for team sports and tournaments will apply
Amount of Proposed bond: $12.6 million
Date of Election: November 7, 2017 (Early Voting Oct. 23 – Nov. 3)
Voting Location: Fredericksburg City Hall 126 W. Main Street
Project Location: South State Highway 16 between Oak Crest Park and the Gillespie County Airport. This property was purchased for park use in the spring of 2017.
Date of Completion: If approved by voters, the park is anticipated to be complete in 2020.
Anticipated Amenities Include: 6 Lighted Baseball/Softball Fields, 5 Soccer Areas (2 - 4 fields per area) 2 areas lighted, Renovate 3 existing Baseball/Softball Fields at Oak Crest Park, Playground areas and pavilions, Restrooms and Concessions, Park Maintenance Facility
